Bavarian Gurkensalat is a refreshing and vibrant cucumber salad that captures the essence of German cuisine. Made with crisp cucumbers and a creamy dressing of sour cream and dill, this dish is perfect as a side to accompany hearty meals. It’s a delightful addition to any summer gathering, bringing a cool and tangy flavor that complements the richness of traditional Bavarian dishes.
01
Wash the cucumber thoroughly. If the peel feels waxy, peel it. Slice the cucumber thinly using a sharp kitchen knife or a mandoline slicer. Transfer the cucumber slices to a large mixing bowl.
02
Sprinkle the cucumber with salt, pepper, and chopped dill. Add the sour cream, white balsamic vinegar, and vegetable oil. Pour the dressing over the cucumber slices.
03
Gently mix the cucumber and dressing by hand, ensuring the slices are well coated. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed. If the salad feels too tangy, add a pinch of sugar.
03
Serve the salad chilled or at room temperature, garnished with additional fresh dill.
